Der immer größer werdende Wettbewerbsdruck durch zunehmende Globalisierung und durch immer kürzere Produktlebenszyklen und Entwicklungszeiten zwingt Unternehmen zu innovativen Ideen. Innovation bedeutet, neue Ideen bzw. Erfindungen zu generieren und diese wirtschaftlich umzusetzen. Die Forderung nach Innovation ist unumstritten, jedoch in der Praxis nicht immer leicht realisierbar. Die wichtigste Aufgabe für das Management besteht darin, Wege zu finden, um die Innovationsfähigkeit zu erhöhen. Immer mehr erfolgreiche Unternehmen stoßen bei dieser Frage auf einen völlig neuen Denkansatz: Die TRIZ-Methode. TRIZ ist das russisches Akronym für „Teoria reshenija izobretatjelskich zadacz“ und bedeutet soviel wie die „Theorie des erfinderischen Problemlösens“ (engl. TIPS für Theory of Inventive Problem Solving). Nach vielen bekannten Kreativitätstechniken wie dem Brainstorming oder der Trial and Error-Methode ist TRIZ der erste Ansatz der sich damit beschäftigt, wie man systematisch Lösungen für Probleme findet. Galt Systematik und Kreativität lange Zeit als widersprüchlich, so soll in dieser Arbeit mit TRIZ ein Ansatz vorgestellt werden, der diesen Widerspruch auflöst. Es werden verschiedene Methoden vorgestellt, die es ermöglichen, die Entwicklungsdauer von Innovationen anhand von geregelten Vorgehensweisen bzw. Leitfäden zu reduzieren. Obwohl sich TRIZ aus technischen Bereichen heraus entwickelt hat, sind viele der in dieser Arbeit vorgestellten Lösungsansätze auch für andere Bereiche anwendbar. Beispiele am Ende dieser Arbeit werden dies verdeutlichen.
