**A brand new vision for achieving human fulfilment from the NATIONAL BESTSELLING author of The Art of Possibility, Rosamund Stone Zander** Pathways to Possibility shows us that life is a story we tell ourselves, and that we have the power to change that story. In this powerful and inspiring book, family systems therapist and executive coach Rosamund Stone Zander invites readers to shed the childhood stories that hold us back, and enter a realm of true maturity and fulfilment, where limitless growth becomes possible. As children, we develop stories about how the world works, most of which get improved upon and amended over time. But some do not, even as we mature in other ways. Opinionated, self-centered and fear-driven, these child stories are the source of the behavioural and emotional patterns that hold us back. When we learn to identify and rewrite these stories, limitless growth becomes possible. She illuminates how breaking old patterns and telling a new story can transform not just our own lives, but also our relationships with others whether in a marriage, a classroom, or a business. Finally, she demonstrates how, with this new understanding of ourselves and our place within an interconnected world, we can take powerful action in the collective interest, and gain a sense of deep connection to the universe. This galvanizing book expands our notions of how much we can grow and change, whether we can affect others or the world at large, and how much freedom and joy we can experience. Stimulating and profound, it is the perfect companion to her beloved first book, The Art of Possibility.

The true majority of American students are working-age adults. Approximately 80% of those who need to start or finish a degree are over 25 years old, yet most institutions of higher education treat them as an afterthought. Courageous Learning offers a closer look at the needs of adult learners and provides a clear, comprehensive assessment of the adult higher education landscape. Courageous Learning underscores an urgent need for Americans to embrace a culture of lifelong learning. It is an invaluable tool for adults making the connection between learning and life success, and it is a must-have resource for educators who recognize our country's future is dependent on the ability to attract and support more courageous learners. "I applaud institutions like Excelsior and Western Governors University for being on the cutting edge, and for developing better ways to meet customers where they are. Going back to school is one of the most important, most expensive, and most impactful decisions that many of us ever make. Hopefully, this book will help returning adults make choices that are right for them." - Margaret Spellings, 8th United States Secretary

This book is about stillness: What it is. How you can find it. Where it hides itself. Why it is necessary to your life. It is a beginner's guide, because with stillness, no experience is necessary. Besides, you are always a beginner in any case, because when it is present, there truly is nothing to do and nowhere to go. This book is also about learning to appreciate wandering or meandering along life's pathways. It does not contain "Six easy steps to wisdom and immortality." Rather, it offers a way to approach your journey, which you then create and discover on your own, with help! You are invited to find a Pathway to Stillness that fits "your" life. On this pathway, you often cannot see what is around the next bend. However, you need only show up for it to become a journey of curiosity, wonder, and more life. You may come to agree with the phrase, "All who wander are not lost." Although this is a book about slowing down to stillness, it is a "pickup-and-go" book that can be read in short segments within a busy life. The stillness stories and the easy to learn relax-into-stillness movements can be enjoyed in any order that suits you. You can linger with those that speak to you the most. With this book, you can practise stillness while waiting for an appointment, before going to sleep, or whenever you can steal some time for yourself....

Questions of equity and inequality have moved to the center of debates on development and poverty reduction. This reflects growing awareness that even countries with high rates of growth can experience stagnating or increasing inequality, and that inequality can itself limit the poverty reducing effects of growth. Indeed, recent work indicates that, in addition to its intrinsic value, equity should be valued for its positive impacts on growth and the poverty-reducing effects of such growth. These concerns are coupled with questions of governance. This is because institutional arrangements affect not only overall rates of growth but also the distributional effects of growth, and are themselves more or less equitable in their structure and functioning. How given institutional arrangements emerge over time, with their implications for growth and equity, remains less understood. 'Institutional Pathways to Equity: Addressing Inequality Traps' tackles the relationship between equity and development, the place of institutions in determining these relationships, and the conditions under which particular institutional arrangements can either block or promote transitions toward more equitable forms of development. The chapters, originally commissioned as background documents for the preparation of the World Development Report 2006, are prepared by leading scholars from the fields of economics, political science, sociology, geography, and development studies. The book speaks directly to current discussions on inequality, poverty, and growth and will contribute to the construction of a historically informed political economy of development. The book specifically highlights the importance of inequality, institutional change through social mobilization, and institutional change through state policies. The authors show that, under certain conditions, state institutions can and have taken a leading role in promoting policies to redress inequitable social relations and so weaken the social foundations of inequality traps.

The desire for peace is universal. Peace education can provide children with the tools necessary to deal with change and adversity throughout their lives. In today's fast-paced, technology-rich world, it can be tempting to join the race and work to an end result at breakneck speeds. However, without slowing down and showing children what the world has to offer, children will not know the beauty the world holds, that which is worth protecting, nor will they be inclined to see the beauty and spirit of those around them. Peace education can be a lesson in the art of simplicity. It can also be a lesson in turning inward to find calm in the midst of chaos. Peace education, when presented in a well thought-out manner, can inspire children to be the future peacemakers of our world and ultimately lead this future generation toward the development of a peaceful planet. Humankind has been working for and promoting peace since the beginning of history, and during this time many have agreed that the most effective and promising way to promote peace in the world is to begin with a child. In Pathways to Peace, author Kimberly Paquette presents a peace-based curriculum to provide children with the tools to construct and build a peaceful tomorrow through exposure to peaceful symbols, practices, and language. Combining Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and Montessori education, Pathways to Peace promotes peace and its practice in the classroom. Geared for three- to six-year-old students, this guide includes both theory and a curriculum where teachers can incorporate peace in all aspects of the classroom. The guide encompasses lessons for each of the multiple intelligences and can be adapted for use in schools, religious education programs, after-school programs, summer camps, and other areas. Pathways to Peace presents a curriculum to allow peace to manifest itself in the hearts of children, who are the earth's salvation. The mission of peace education is to show children the path that would lead the world toward true peace.
