There is more to our world than meets the eye—darker things, crueler things. Exorcist John Fogg and his wife, psychic medium Theodora Knight, know what lurks in the shadows. But even they’re not prepared for the worst Hell has to offer... It was supposed to be a simple exorcism, a publicity stunt to firmly establish John and Theodora’s thriving paranormal investigation empire in the public eye. But something went wrong, leading to an on-air massacre that unleashed a malicious host of demons and left Theodora catatonic, possessed by countless spirits. John sets out on a desperate quest to find a cure for his wife, but his obsession brings him face-to-face with an even more terrifying problem: Theodora’s possession is only one piece of a deadly plot that is threatening the entire world. Because an ancient evil is about to make Earth its battlefield—and without John and Theodora’s intervention, there is no chance for salvation...

Everson Croft here, professor of mythology and behind-the-scenes wizard. Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday. Something tells me I'm in over my head. And that's not just Chinatown's newest mob boss, a scary-powerful vampire, or my possessed cat talking. No matter how much magic I hurl, worse keeps chasing bad, and I'm amassing enemies like they're aluminum cans. Did I mention the end of the world might be nigh? Damn. Maybe I'm the amateur here.

The media has a nickname for Marnie Baranuik, though she'd rather they didn't; they call her the Great White Shark, a rare dual-talented forensic psychic. Then her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. But then English aristocrat Alexander Hunt walks into her life and everything changes. Handsome, brooding, and with his own dark past to escape, Alexander is exactly what Lauren doesn't need - but she finds herself helplessly drawn towards him. Both Alexander and Lauren know that they should stay away from each other . . . but sometimes desire is so powerful that it conquers all else. The First Time We Met is the first novel in Pippa Croft's Oxford Blue Series. Fans of E L James, Tammara Webber and Samantha Young will love this compelling romance series. Praise for the Oxford Blue series: 'Croft (mainstream romance author Phillipa Ashley) kicks off her Oxford Blues new adult contemporary trilogy with an angsty yet appealing romance. Lauren Cusack, the daughter of a U.S. senator, leaves Washington, D.C., for a year abroad at Oxford, studying for a master's degree in the history of art and visual culture. Alexander Hunt is a compellingly broken English aristocrat. The author is an Oxford alum herself, and she writes with authority about what happens when an upper-crust Brit meets a fearless American.' Publishers Weekly 'A very well deserved five stars, a fabulous emotion filled, dramatic read!' Jeannie Zelos Book Reviews 'A very steamy NA with a sprinkling of Downton-Abbey-esqueold money traditions and snobbery. And I freaking loved it.' Tea Party Princess 'With a great setting, fantastic characters and a passionate love story, The First Time We Met is a great read in the New Adult genre.' Chloe's Chick Lit Reviews 'I absolutely cannot wait for book 3!' Erin's Choice 'Pippa Croft captures the overwhelming physical attraction between Lauren and Alexander. It was hot. REALLY hot.' In the vein of Meg Donohue and Jennifer Close, comes Cecilia Galante’s adult debut about the complicated and powerful bonds of female friendship—a compelling, moving novel that is told in both the present and the past. Thrown together by chance as teenagers at Turning Winds Home for Girls, Nora, Ozzie, Monica, and Grace quickly bond over their troubled pasts and form their own family which they dub The Invisibles. But when tragedy strikes after graduation, Nora is left to deal with the horrifying aftermath alone as the other three girls leave home and don’t look back. Fourteen years later, Nora is living a quiet, single life working in the local library. She is content to focus on her collection of “first lines” (her favorite opening lines from novels) and her dog, Alice Walker, when out-of-the-blue Ozzie calls her on her thirty-second birthday. But after all these years, Ozzie hasn’t called her to wish a happy birthday. Instead, she tells Nora that Grace attempted suicide and is pleading for The Invisibles to convene again. Nora is torn: she is thrilled at the thought of being in touch with her friends, and yet she is hesitant at seeing these women after such a long and silent period of time. Bolstered by her friends at the library, Nora joins The Invisibles in Chicago for a reunion that sets off an extraordinary chain of events that will change each of their lives forever. The Invisibles is an unforgettable novel that asks the questions: How much of our pasts define our present selves? And what does it take to let go of some of our most painful wounds and move on?

A six-month New York Times bestseller: “Not only the best Watergate book, but a very good book indeed” (The Sunday Times). As White House counsel to Richard Nixon, a young John W. Dean was one of the primary players in the Watergate scandal—and ultimately became the government’s key witness in the investigations that ended the Nixon presidency. After the scandal subsided, Dean rebuilt his career, first in business and then as a bestselling author and lecturer. But while the events were still fresh in his mind, he wrote this remarkable memoir about the operations of the Nixon White House and the crisis that led to the president’s resignation. Called “fascinating” by Commentary, which noted that “there can be little doubt of [Dean's] memory or his candor,” Blind Ambition offers an insider’s view of the deceptions and machinations that brought down an administration and changed the American people’s view of politics and power. It also contains Dean’s own unsparing reflections on the personal demons that drove him to participate in the sordid affair. Upon its original publication, Kirkus Reviews hailed it “the flip side of All the President’s Men—a document, a minefield, and prime entertainment.” Today, Dean is a respected and outspoken advocate for transparency and ethics in government, and the bestselling author of such books as The Nixon Defense, Worse Than Watergate, and Conservatives Without Conscience. Here, in Blind Ambition, he “paints a candid picture of the sickening moral bankruptcy which permeated the White House and to which he contributed. His memory of who said what and to whom is astounding” (Foreign Affairs).

That's three complete novels of Damian's dark, gritty, and occasionally hilarious urban-fantasy adventures.Days Gone Bad (Book 1)My name is Damian Valdis Vesik. I am a necromancer, an ability feared and hated as much as the powers my master and I set ourselves against. We've vanquished many evils, but now something is releasing an old darkness, forcing us to hunt an enemy beyond anything I've faced before. I was already busy enough with vampires, fairies, witches, Watchers, weddings, and ...damn, I need a vacation.Wolves and the River of Stone (Book 2)Philip, Zola's boyfriend from 150 years ago, is not nearly as dead as we thought. I really wish he was. Not only has he kidnapped Zola, but he's raising an army to scour humanity from the Earth. Hopefully the local werewolf pack will help. What could possibly go wrong?Winter's Demon (Book 3)Some things can never be undone. The horrors I've defeated - or even caused - with my own hands...they are nothing compared to what's coming. Philip Pinkerton has brought his madness upon my family, my own blood. His army of necromancers is on the move, harbingers of a great darkness. I fear the war has begun...and damn, I don't get paid enough for this.

In a time when folklore and superstition are prevalent and animal spirits are totem guides, the Kingdom of Durundal can be a mysterious place - and for a child who is different, it can be cruel. Ajeya is a girl with a secret when she is banished into the wilderness by her father, Emperor Gnaeus of Ataxata. Close to death and sheltered by her mother, she is found and accepted by the clans who give her protection for many years - until the day a rumble can be heard in the distance and an enemy breaches the horizon intent on death and destruction - but who or what do they want? Facing an army with unfathomable strength and resources, the situation is hopeless......or is it?If you like realistic personalities and well crafted worlds then you will love A Hare in the Wilderness - a tale of those who refuse to give up and surrender - a tale of those who face their fears and conquer. With strong, resilient characters in Ajeya and Keao, and others whom are less forgiving like the Emperor and his henchman the General; you are drawn into a story of love, strength and honour. For this is the Kingdom of Durundal, where those darkest secrets of the unknown test even the bravest souls. -Book 1 in the Kingdom of Durundal series--Review from amazon.comThis is probably one of the best-written books I've ever read, the descriptions were so beautiful, the words were poetic. The author really has an amazing way with words. What is more, the plot is also as captivating. Ajeya is cast aside by her father, the Emperor because she has a disfigurement by birth. The story begins with her telling her tale of strength, love, and courage as she fights the prejudices of the people and slowly realizes who she is, the heir to the Empire of Ataxata. Characters were well developed, so likable, from Dainn to Hagen and Keao and many others. Such a heartwarming beautiful story that should appeal to all ages. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Here Barbara Freitag examines all the literature on the subject since their discovery 160 years ago, highlighting the inconsistencies of the various interpretations in regard to origin, function and name. By considering the Sheela-na-gigs in their medieval social context, she suggests that they were folk deities with particular responsibility for assistance in childbirth. This fascinating survey sheds new light on a controversial phenomenon, and also contains a complete catalogue of all known Sheela-na-gigs, including hitherto unrecorded or unpublished figures.
